Well for my first system I went pretty cheap and its good a first but now I just wanna rock out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif So for a general outline, I custom made the boxes which did turn out pretty good and did all the installing myself. Didn't spend too much really. I started off by replacing my stock door speakers which these: 2 in front, 2 in back:

Next, I upgraded my aftermarket dual cd player which a Pioneer head unit:

Subs: Basic Kicker comps. 12'' Than for the boxes:

The amp is shown above and is an 800 watt pioneer mono amp.

Basically what I would like to do would be to take the current subs out and put some Kicker 800 watt CRV's in. Than upgrade the amp, power wire, ect. My question, if I were to swap out the subs and amp, what would be a good amp to get to run both off of and what size power wire will I need to get? Also, should I run the door speakers off of the pioneer amp that I have now? Space is pretty limited but I can fit a good sized amp above the boxes so that's not a problem. Also, would an equalizer be helpful? Please help me get some better sound in my dakota. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

CVR's won't be much of an upgrade IMO, they will probably be a bit louder, but not worth the money or time. If you're deadset on Kicker, go all the way and get the CVX.

What size power wire do you have now? You can probably slither by with 4 gauge, but 2-0 would be best. What are the specs of the Pioneer? Amp will depend on what subs you end up getting.

Generally, an EQ isn't needed, most HU's nowadays have them built in, but if you are constantly tweaking when you switch music it can't hurt as long as you don't use it as a band-aid solution to a bigger problem.

EDIT: Just looked at the pic, that doesn't seem any bigger than 8 gauge wire, if you plan on upgrading, that will have to go.

The problem with the CVX's and I would have to make a ring to extend the lip of my box out about 1/2'' and inch to deal with the larger depth of the subs. Which I guess wouldn't a problem to do. What amp would be ideal for two of the 1500 watt CVXs?
