Is this a good deal, or is the place ripping me off

He told me a 300Watt JL Audio was like 250$

and the install fees.

This was to fit in a small area in my truck, but i may no be doing that anymore and just placing the box on the middle seat, so if possible, can anyone reccomend me anything cheaper

Can anyone post some good cheap stuff, that i can buy online

and just get someone local to install it for me if i have the box prepared, and the sub..

I have a Mitsubishi Raider so spacing needs to be limited to 1 of the rear bucket seats..

I have another thread here with images of my truck and the back seat. so if you can check that that owuld be amazing.

if that price was for say a 13w3 with a 500/1 and all of the wires and installation that would be a somewhat fair price but IMO a w1 is just a waste of money regardless of what you pay

My advice would be for the OP to check for some decent used gear to save a few $$. Deals can be had everywhere if you are willing to look and wait. I purchased a Rockford Fosgate P5002, a pair of JL 10w3v2 subs, and a Nissan Titan box for $200 locally after someone wrecked their truck. I sold the Titan box for $20 so I am only out of pocket $180 for two 10" subs and an amp!

I do want to warn you about one thing though. If you buy online or used, prepare to be ***** on installation fees if you go to a local installer. Since they did not get a chance to rip you off with their overpriced merchandise, they are going to make it up on the installation!

If you get a detailed price qoute from them with a labor break down you may be able to save yourself the jacked up labor fee.

I've done that before. "So your labor to install your 300.1 amp is $20 (just an example) but the price to install my 300.1 amp is $60....why?"

They shouldn't have a leg to stand on. If they complain I always say, "so you would let my business and referrals go to someone else for the difference rather than charge what you already told me you would?"

Don't do it. You will be disappointed with spending that money and what you will get for it. I agree with the other suggestions on buying used or online. Good luck.
