I think it is time that we get to see 12 inches of hardcore excursion.

There has to be a general consencus here!

basically that back metal part is the basket\magnet\motor.

the magnets are actually in the cylander things. they are silver and you cant even tell they are magnets. i dont quite understand how the spider works, or how the motor pulls the baffle... because, well, what the hell is holding the baffle?

i would like to see pictures of an assembly like the guy from RE did with the SExxx woofer.

The magnets are Neo, and aren't the entire cylindrical things. There isn't a spider (so to speak), only a bunch of metal coils that act both as the tinsel leads and as the "spider" (more like springs) by controlling cone motion. The motor pulls the baffle with the big long poll that the baffle is attached to, and that the VC is wound onto.

Sometimes I think you guys try to make it harder than it is.

so it could move a 24"x24" suface as fast a the movement of a cone on a subwoofer????? If so that is mind bending.

Also does anyone remember the Phenox Gold Cyclone? Is that similar to adire's creating???

No, I dont think the PG Cyclone was a dipole driver...

Um....yeah. In case you didn't notice, it has a pretty potent motor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Not at all. The Cyclone's "cone" (vains) rotated back and forth (Xmax was measured in degrees) and had a servo as a motor (just like the servos used for RC cars, only much bigger). Feed a servo like that an AC voltage and it'll rotate back and forth at the frequency it is given, rather than just spin in one direction. The Parthenon works just like every other sub, in a linear pistonic fashion (cone moves in and out).

just like how a crank and piston/rod works in a car right?
