dealers without demos

I started shopping for some gear and ran into three dealers that carry high calibre equipment but have no units hooked up for demos. How can i confidently choose them as my installer and want the brands the sell if i can't hear them?

These brands were Zapco, Hertz, ID, and Focal. There are also certified dealers. FYI- i live in Tampa, Fl.

Interested in your comments on this.

wow lame dealers, not even in their own vehicles? unbelivable.

Dealer- "This stuff sounds incredible"

You - "can I hear it"

Dealer - " Take my word for it"

TO not have any of the gear hooked up seems like a waste of time unless they have unbelievable prices.

Actually this is where i found out about the brands and then went to the dealers to hear them. Low and behold... One said he had them in his car but runs his system off his laptop but didn't have his laptop. Another says he hasn't had time to put a system in his truck. And the last didn't have anything from that brand in his speaker display.

Getting more and more common these days. One way local B&M's fight off the internet sales problem is to keep their inventory at a minimum, especially on high-end products. I guess they figure most people buying the high-end stuff will assume it sounds good due to the price tag... and for most consumers, that's exactly what happens. You happen to be the minority high-end enthusiast, clearly these shops are not intending to cater to you. Return the favor, order it online and install it yourself.

sometimes the $hit just costs too **** much. if each of those amps runs the dealer $800 in dealer cost, and he has 3 of them hooked up, there is $2400. So when he goes to sell the amps, the customer then wants a discount because the amps are "open box."

This seems to be the rule rather than the exception. Even when they have the products available, the majority of shops that I have been to start making excuses for their sound boards when you ask to listen to the products they are selling.

Just another reason to shop online. Rather than drive to a shop, you are better off spending your time reading and comparing reviews.

Tis isnt always true. At american MTX sends them a display amp to use and when they stop carring that line it gets sent back to MTX. I dont see why zapco, hertz or ID couldnt do that.

It's not that simple....most manufactures and distributors do offer demo and display equip at a lower price than normal dealer cost it just really depends on the company.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D
