Deadening project question and suggestion needed

Alright so I installed about 30 sq ft of deadener this weekend, 20 were damp pro the other 10 was dyna xtreme that i had laying around. So the trunk is now covered but I'm wanting to do my doors and was going to order the deadener this week. My question is should I use luxury liner or overkill? I'm going to be putting 2 layers of damp pro in my doors and was wondering if I'd be better suited to have the luxury liner on top of that or overkill? What will help keep the road noise out of the car better between the pro versions of overkill or luxury liner?

Inside sheet metal of the doors on top of the damplifier. Road noise as in my car has aftermarket exhaust so i do get some drone from that and road noise as the mazda6 isn't the best car for being quiet.

You need at least one layer of damping mat on the outer skin of a car door, especially if there's a speaker in that door.

OverKill will block about 10khz and up. Exhaust drone is probably around 100 hz. Wrong product choice.

LL will block about 12 dB at 100 hz.

Do some reading on SS's forum. These issues are addressed daily.

I forgot the "P" or pro from that last post lol. I had read that not only is one open vs. closed cell on the LL but also the added weight/thickness would benefit me more I'm thinking. I love having a car low to the ground as my clearence is only about 5" on the sides and 4.5" front bumper but man does it pick up a ton of noise.

I feel your pain, brother. Take your car, put the wimpy 2.0L FS-DE engine in it with a 4:1 header, catless midpipe and RB Catback and you're now in mine (Protege5). Mazda spares no expense in the NVH department. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

lol nope they dont. Honestly I love love love my car but after you mod the exhaust on the 3.0 liter v6 she has some good sound to her. Nothing ricey but even just straight pipes (no headers made for 06+ 6s) make the car sound much nicer.

How did you like the Damplifier Pro compared to the Dynamat Extreme?

This seriously can't be a question. If I was being asked, the two don't compare. Ease of use and effectiveness goes to Damp Pro. I actually prefer regular Damplifier over Dynamat Xtreme.

Fox, great info...wish I would have known this more before doing my Accord, not that it makes a difference since I dont have it anymore, but for my current vehicle I'll be sure to keep in mind your pointers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Don't put LL anywhere where it can get wet. Open cell foam loves water and it will saturate, rot, and fall off.
John, not to be argumentative at all, but I’m not too sure about this.

I’ve had a couple pieces of LLP (about 2x2' each) sitting outside for at least 3 months now. I’m lazy, yes… really, it’s a simple explanation… it sits on a bench my wife has outside that we never use and is off to the side… I forget that stuff is there most of the time and when I do, it’s too wet to bring inside so I leave it with intentions of bringing it in when its dry… then it rains again. …. Cycle.

Anyway, as long as that stuff has been rained on, sun shined on, etc, it still feels fine and sure doesn’t show signs of falling apart. I actually picked a sheet up Saturday night to show a friend that was demo’ing his car for me. Didn’t bother to mention that it had sat outside for months. You couldn’t tell a difference.

My $.02.

*ps: if you want, I can take pics... but hopefully you trust my word*

What is the foam on Luxury Liner?

What is the foam on Luxury Liner Pro?

Why is one suitable for areas where water is present and one not?

It was a great plug for the superior of the products, though! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
