dead *** smell?

ok i was on my way out to my car today and i walked right into a cloud of what i would describe as something along the lines of a dead persons *** or something like that, so i looked around for what i figured would be a dead animal or something but found nothing. any ideas what would be making my apartment complex smell this way?

X2 on the dead mouse. Same thing happened to me. Died in the baseboard heating. HORRIBLE smell. Go look around.
