i have older z2 amp. i just have a few questions.....please reply when u get a chance.

i wanted to run this amp just off battery power not connected to the vehicle preferably 16 volt batteries. they will only be used for a few burps at a time during comps. then when i get home i will recharge the batteries.

what batteries and how many would u recommend @ 16 volts so that the z2 can run without problems? ( the less batteries the better

also my other scenario was 12 volts hooked up to the car in that case what batteries would u recommend for the z2 .

i just want to get the most out of the amp with out damaging it. and also be able to get a few burps out of it without killing the battery during a comp.

oh and most important can this amp be burped @ .5 ohms ? it will be on 2 9515d dual 2 ohms subs.

it can be burped at .5ohm

as for battery wise to get the full potential out of it you'll need

as many batts as you can give it.. I know that vague but its the truth.

If you're going to sit there and feed it only a pair of batteries then you're

not doing yourself any good.

Whether it be 14V or 16V+ you'll need at the a good 4 batts to really get the full potential from

the amplifier..

powermaster, popular with some big dogs, I run 2 of the PM D1000's I need some more, but I sugest maybe 4 atleast, look into the batcap 8400's, maybe the kinetik 16v's, just plan to get a few of whatever you decide

i was looking into a single batcap 8400 that a member on this forum is selling....

i was also thinking about maybe 4 kinetik 16v batts.

still undecided though.

are the powermasters 16v batts better than the kinetiks for my application.?

a single 8400 will not be enough.. nor will it take care of your needs.

in all reality whether you go with Powermaster or Kinetik you will

have your needs met with 4 of them..

whatever is cheaper out of the two of them would be my choice for you

Keep in mind if you are going to do a stand alone 16 volt bank, you will need approx. (3) 16 volt batteries to equal (2) 14 volt group 31's.

16 volt batteries dont have the capacity that a group 31 carries. Switching to 16 volts is a trade off of more power but it takes more batteries to get the job done. It is expensive to do it correctly, I suggest keeping a 16 volt charger in the car and recharge between rounds until you can get a dual alt setup or a regulator and a step down module.

are you a member on the DB drag racing forum? there are a lot of smart ppl over therevs thread
is that the term-pro one ... i did post this on soundpressure forum though as well.

i have 3 optima yellow tops ( i think the group 34 maybe, it is the ones with top and side postes. 800cca i believe )

how many more of those would u guys think i need if i stuck with that.

from the sounds of it the guy just wants it for burps at events at thats it.

as the person mentioned above when going with 16V batts you trade off reserve

but with 4 16V batts you'll have sufficient current and voltage to get some good power from

the Z2

Group 34s will do nothing for your Z2... you'd need Group 31s in order to have any chance of providing sufficient amperage and voltage...

Pick up 3 more Yellow tops and that amp will love you for a long time.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yes i just want somethin enough for a few burps per comp and try to keep my numbers consistant before the batts start to lose voltage
