dd z1 blown? help!!!!!!!!

To fix that amp i would charge $100.00 plus shipping. The z1's have parts in them that can get expensive if not repaired properly the first time. For example you have a blown output ,and shorted power supply fets and you only replace the power supply fets in the amp and leave the blown output transistor. Which in return it will blow the power supply all over again and could cause extensive damage to other components inside the amp making it unrepairable. Or the cost would be the same to repair the amp at that point as buying a new one. Chris at db-r probably would agree with me that if you dont have knowlege of fixing this type of amp dont attempt to repair it yourself . Not trying to downgrade anyone on here but the z1's sometimes have hidden problems and if you dont catch it the first time you repair the amp it can get very costly in the long run or your stuck with a paper weight .

Yeah those power supply FETs are like $3 a pop.

Having such an intermittent problem makes me wonder what the true issue is tho.

Just guessing without seeing the amp . It could be a couple different things . 1 maybe an op-amp went bad inside it. 2: a shorted or leaking output. 3: It may be a shorted coil on the sub woofer and not the amp at all. 4: could possibly be a broken solder connection somewhere inside the amp also.

Just giving you some ideas

I would call Kevin at DD at 405-239-2800 get an RA number and send it to DD to fix. It should cost around $100. They can get the amp back to you in 2 weeks. I just got my M2 fixed from them.
