DD 9515 SPL Box suggestions

I don't have the space anymore for 18's.....15's only, unless I decide to get rid of my back seats. Which I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon lol. So I found another 9515 dvc 2 ohm I motor. I talked the guy down to $250, It's got some paint that spilled on the surround and the dust cap has a dent in it. He was asking $350.....So i should be picking that up here later on today!

Oh and hispls I slapped a box together yesterday just for shiits and giggles. I managed to get 5.9 cu ft net with 100 sq in of port area. And I got it all in and went to take a test drive and wouldn't you know....my head unit kept shutting off because I'm running the stock alternator with a lead acid under the hook and an agm in the back at the moment......SHIITY! So I'm going to fabricate a dual alternator bracket for my 4.3l. I don't see how your able to run a taramps on 12v electrical....I got home after attempting to listen to it, and my battery was dead as could be. So they've been on the charger all night. I'm hoping they're completely charged by now.

But anyways how many cubic feet would you guys recommend and port area for two 9500's? Obviously I want the most spl because I'm trying to pop my bass cherry lmao. But it will need to be for music also. I would like to be able to listen to them for long periods at a time so when I'm demoing I won't have to keep smelling for burnt coils.

DO NOT attempt to play below 40hz with that box. Assuming you peak 45-55hz range somewhere that box should do some big burp numbers assuming it's solid.

3" 4 layer coil is good for 1200W continuous. Beyond that it will heat up and fail.... The more power you use beyond that it will fail exponentially faster.

DD95 is about as good as you can get for getting loud without getting into neodymium. Stick to the DD box specs and they've always impressed me, just don't try to play whale song notes on them in the spec boxes with the kind of power you're using. You should not need a lot of power to get pretty loud with 9515 in that box.

Go easy and keep an eye on excursion until you really get a feel for the limits of things.

No ****? Well then.....everything happens for a reason...because i was only able to hear one note for a split second before it kept shutting off and turning back on repeatedly. Because i was only running on about 10v. Thank you for letting me know lol. I'm just going to scrap it then before i make another costly mistake because of my stupidity.....arent they rated 2000 rms/ 6000 peak? So in a smaller box i could push 3000 to each one comfortably and be able to pull off 150-153? Why would anyone pay $1000 for 1200 watt coils?

Wanting more of a daily that'll get loud?.. for just 1 I'd just increase the port area a touch (8K Taramps?), find a decent middle tune and get that electrical straightened out... you got 2 DD's now so this won't work...

Because the point of an "spl box" isn't to "beat down the block" it's to play your loudest frequency (probably somewhere between 45-55hz in a small to mid sized SUV) for 3 seconds, or possibly for 30 seconds (bass race) if you have adequate electrical.

Latest generation 95XX is rated "1000-2000W" and those are 3.5" coils (or some other oddball larger than 3" proprietary size).

People pay high on DD95 because they're quality American Made and they win competitions. The point isn't to just dump as much power as you can into things, if that was is your goal you should be shopping for 4" coil or perhaps even the Pierce Audio sub that's running 6" 8 layer.

Lower tuning and/or smaller box will help the subs mechanically take more power and should flatten response some but you can't get away from heat and 8kw is plenty enough heat to burn up pretty much any subwoofer short of perhaps 6" 8 layer coil.

So now if you have a box that's too big and tuned too high it will be VERY EASY to shrink the box and the port to test and see for yourself what changes. Don't feel obligated to run your amp wide open right away, and if you're dropping your system voltage enough to power down your head unit that's not the fault of the box.... you have some big issues going on with your electrical system that you ought to sort out before trying to power up anything.

Oh yes i definitely know it was not because of the box, I'm not that dumb lmao, its most definitely because of my electrical.....no doubt, which is why I'm fabricating a dual alternator bracket identical to the one that sells for $200 online....i found out my two d31 yellow tops and my shureiken 60ah are all completely shot....so im down to two red tops and a 95ah agm with 1000cca

Yes i know optimas are shiitty, but it's all i have at the moment sadly....ok so im about to go pick up this other 9515i in a minute. Here's my main questions

Can i achieve 150-153 with two 9500 and 4k?

Shredder would you be willing to help me with a design? If not its understandable lol

Should i use aero's or slot?

Ok so i just noticed on the first one i got that the motor has came loose just slightly and the surround is really stiff....i hooked it up and played it on volume 4 to see if it would move any and it did just barely......why would the motor become loose from the basket?

The screws that bolt the frame into the motor have backed out a little. This is why some of us put a drop of glue on the edge of those bolts so they don't vibrate loose.

I'd be horrified to think that DD didn't glue those or use loctite in the threads. Did the person who owned it before you rebuild it from a different size? Stiff surround/suspension is to be expected.

Anyway you might could put a few drops of super glue between the frame and the motor and get it to stick BUT you'll want to mount it inverted and horizontal if you want that to last. I learned that the hard way building subs. The big issue is if the frame is loosening up cockeyed the coil will be trying to come in and out of the gap crosswise and will rub and fail possibly damaging your amp with a catastrophic short.

I've seen other guys try to rig something up with beefy zip ties to fix what you have going on. Not sure how that works. The bad news is the only real fix will require removing all the softparts (likely you won't be able to salvage them.... or they won't be pretty) tightening up that bolt that holds the frame to the motor, then using a drop of glue at the edge of the top of the bolt to hold it in place.

Hmmm.....that would explain why the dude had it inverted in the box. **** that pissses me off.....oh well....atleast it's fixable. And theres a ring of glue around the magnet. So glue was definitely used before. What glue should i use? I want something stronger than super glue. I dont have any ca glue at the moment

Ok so the magnet shifted slightly, i was able to get it to go back in place and i gently pressed on the cone and now it moves up and down like butter....should i just glue it back into place?

Im not sure if it was rebuilt or not. It has a yellow dustcap, i would love to post pictures of them but tge camera on my shiiity g5 (backup) wont open
