DD 9515 SPL Box suggestions

So I picked up a DD9515 and the box it's in right now is 34 wide x 17 tall x 18 deep, which would be 3.82 cu ft net 5.4 cu ft gross, the port is 4" wide x 30" long for a tuning of 34hz. 62 square inches of port area, 16.23 square inches of port area per foot. It's wired to 1 ohm on my taramps 8k. Right now I'm running on the stock alternator because I've been trying to think of a way to design a dual alternator bracket. Cause I just got a Miller 130xp wire welder and I've got a fairly large piece of 3/16th" steel. I just threw it in to see what it sounds like cause I've never been able to hear a 9515 in person. For just throwing it in the back in the current box on stock electrical with one extra battery it's already pretty fuucking loud!.....I can't wait till I'm running both alternators with it in a better box. Holy shiit!!!

It should be an all right box for daily but in spl I’ve ran them as low as 1.5 each plus port ...but that’s for the meter not listening too

Welcome back!

95XX can take a lot of power for burps but be careful. That is not a very big coil for holding heat and a single 15 will run into mechanical limits with that much power on tap.

I suspect you're OK with box volume but you'll want more port area and higher tuning for real SPL applications. Really the cookie cutter box would be 5 cubic feet 100"^2 port area 17" port depth. That will tune up a little over 40hz and be very loud. Definitely be super careful about excursion though. That would be burp only and even then keep an eye on excursion.

Thank you hispls! lol.....Yes I'm going to keep an eye on everything for sure. Cause I do know that the recones are a little pricey....I'm not sure on the exact price, but it's a 95xx so I can imagine it's probably $150-ish.....I'm definitely going to be conservative on the gain and HU settings. I would like to have a removable port for music and SPL. I'm going to pay for a good design this time cause I'm not fuucking around lmao.

louisianacrx oh my god I wish I had four of them lol. What numbers did those do and how many watts?

and what would you do louisianacrx since you have experience with them? And since you've won usaci events you obviously know what your doing lmao!

How many watts can I push to it comfortably without having to worry about cooking the coils.

That would be a good deal ..you can’t really tell what model subs they are from the pics and people will lie telling you they are higher models than what they have ..but if they put that sort of money in the box ..I’d think they would be a better than basic series..

That box was built for 0-300 watt class back in the early days on two Kicker XS100s it was doing 153s outlaw ..when I set my world record in 2004 ..I was running 2 DD 9515s and only one Kicker XS100 and it did a 147.4 ..I had made improvements to my car and electrical when this box was built

Did a 153+ with one on about 2kw back in the early 2000s.

6 cubes tuned to 42. Lol for daily 4.25 is usually pretty middle of the road. Peeps who like lowend do 4.75. If you want a punchy sound 3.75 is the smallest I'd really go and you need 75in^2 of port area.

I fried two dd 2515's on a zx2500.1 lol.....i already want another 9515 lmao....and ive only listened to it for a couple seconds, I'm hoping i can get it louder than what it is right now
