So I know about AQ and DD subs being able to take more than rated RMS power, but would a 3512 be able to take 1500-2000 RMS daily? Well?

Also, what is anyone's/everyone's opinion on how DDs sound? I haven't owned a DD in about 12 years, and I was a lot less concerned about SQ at that time...

I persoanlly don't like the DD sound, but to each their own. 1500-2000 watts will be optimal for the 3500 series.

DD3512's can easily handle 1500 and 2000w would be good for them (seen it done).

This is my main concern. I've heard a ton of people say this and it makes me worry a bit...

Like I said, I used to own one waaaaaaaaaay back in the day before DD got big, but I can't remember how "good" it sounded...

I like the sound of DD's, but AQ's sound better IMO if you're looking at going that route.

a box ment for a 3512 using all its perimeters will sound great. If your doing 1200watts id say go with a 2500 series, they sound amazing.

I wouldn't say amazing... I think my 2512 sounded good but my DC is a step up in terms of SQ and SPL. (SPL is a given though)

SQ is totally dependent. For instance, some people used to say the Adire Brahma MKII sounded 'dry'. But I loved mine.

Yes, DD subs do sound different, but doesn't every sub? Hell, to some the L7 had great SQ...lol.

I have also found that many people that complain about the way DD subs sound have only heard a few or only had their own sub in 1 box.

Enclosure design can and will totally change the sub.

Unless you have quite a bit of hands-on w/ a given sub in many different installs...you really can't say 'hey, that sub sounds....." You fill in the blank.

Oh, and I have run 3515E's on anywhere from 1000-2800w daily. Currently running my 2 3515E's w/ 2 DDM2a's strapped at 1.5ohm. These same subs have seen up to 2800w and 155+dB in the past 2yrs. I'm still on my original coils.

I recommend 1000-2000wrms for daily use. Like to sell them on 1200-1500wrms, just incase the customer likes to clip the hell out of them.

Some say DD's sound bad, but they were in a box tuned to 40 hz. What do they expect?

I hate the way a high tuned box sounds. Cant speak for DD or AQ, but I'm noticing the box is just as important or more so than the driver.

Even a 33hz tuning sounds different than a 28.
