technically with that coil design, as the coil rises and falls in the gap there is more physical coil in the gap maintaining a higher BL throughout the stroke, right?

Yes, the coil is "thinner" in the center and gets fatter towards the outside. The BL is super flat as long as the coil is wound correctly (which it was **** near perfect on the one chart I saw years back).

I always figured that once you put the coil in, the space the coil took up was subtracted from the gap, so you could have the "same" gap size between a 4 layer and a 8 layer..if that makes sense

meh...

The original 6" they dropped had a huge following with some great results. However, I do not see a market for anything bigger then what was already created. Much like 8's, I honestly do not see a massive market for 8's that get much larger if at all then what they are now.

I can't wait for my DD 2508 either, they should be in soon. But I see now they are coming out with a 1506! AHHH! I just finished this setup and they do this to me. Here is a pic of my DD SW6.5s

I laugh at dd's attempt to be on par with sundown. Hey, let's make the dumbest 8 we can. We'll put the biggest motor on it so that it looks nice. They are just competing in a market of 8's and seem to be lagging.

8s were popular in the 90s then most everyone dropped them off there line up. now they are making a comeback and they are coming beefy thanx to Mr.Fuller.

it makes sence now with new tech 8s can have more throw and handle more power and need less room. a sa8 has more output than 90% of the 12s from the late 90s...
