DC, worth the money?

Im gonna say what i believe.

Rusty gives out great prices on his woofers. I think he does this because every other brand is so expensive. I know the level 3's are a great woofer and you will be satisfied.

i compared a 12" Level 4 and a 12" Fi Q both on 1500 watts in a 2 cubic foot box with a 4" aero port tuned to 32hz. as well a a 15" of the same model's in a 3.5 cubic foot box with a 6" aero port tuned to 34hz. to the ear the skin the DC sounded louder but on a friends AC meter the Fi was louder by just over a full DB in the 15" and just under in the 12". yeah that doesn't seem like much but considering that the Fi sub is cheaper and the recones are cheaper I was expecting to have the opposite result. i've heard the Fi customer service nightmares but honestly the money that I save, I'll deal with it. BTW all the testing was done in a '00 focus hatchback with a Kicker ZX1500. my next full build will be with 2 15" Fi Qs.
Oh ok. That's useful information to keep in mind. Though I thought they were about the same price. At least from i've seen. Have you tried the bl's? Because i'm sure if I go the fi route, i'll try those subs.

funny b/c the list i got the level 5s cost more than say a nightshade or death penalty...

I have 4 level 3 15s in my wall right now. theyre tuned to 35 hz and im giving them roughly 1000 watts a peice before imp. rise. i am not impressed with these subs at all really. im gonna change my wall around with them and try some differetn tunings and such but based on what im runnning now im not a huge fan

I ran a 15" DC Level 4 in a 3.8 cubic foot box tuned to 37hz daily, it still yielded a similar result. grant it the DC seemed like it still needed more power. I've never had an issue with Fi. definitely not saying that ppl don't, just stating that I haven't had an issue.
If it was the older model DC Level 4 then your box was to small by .2 cubes plus displacement.

I had my DC Level 4 15" in 4.5 net cubes per the specs (4 cubes after port and displacement), tuned at 32Hz on a clean 1400@1 ohm amp and it was a great sounding setup with loads of output. You wouldnt be disappointed. I paid $200 shipped for my Level 4 used. The guy I sold it to is still wangin on it in the same box and loves it in his Explorer.

im not knocking dc i love my level 5, but alot of people that run dc think its the god of woofers.
Everybody has their own brand they love, nothing wrong with that. I think alot of people like the customer service on top of the product. There are alot of good subs(actually most are the same)but the cs is the deciding factor.
