DC Level 3 15 or...

Needs moar loud
I'm thinking about running either 4 10's, probably Kicker CVR, though I am one of the people that hates Kicker... I'm trying to stay away from them, but I am trying to get relatively loud with not much money.

Another choice, would be the DC Level 3 15". I'm leaning toward this option...

Both set ups will have a box at about 4.7ish before displacement, tuned to around 33-34hz.

I'll be sending the sub(s) 1500w, and they will be going into a 2003 Mazda Protege.

I'm curious which would be a better choice, or if there is an even better choice out there without causing me to pay a **** ton of money, and still get pretty loud without giving up TOO much quality.

What do you guys think?

I think the kickers will be louder based on sheer cone area, thats about 2x the cone area. But CVRs dont play that low and dont sound good in general. I think DC is a marginal company, but the lvl 3 is a pretty decent sounding sub that has nice output as well.

Big difference between 4 10s and a single 15 when the box is built right for either set up. My honest opinion, you won't notice that much of a difference if you were to build a box for a single 15, stuck a level 3, sdc2.5, sa, obsidian, ect in the box. Been down that road before. Unless you're going for numbers, go with whichever one looks best to you lol.

edit: i failed at reading ur post.
i would throw more then 1500 at 4 10inch lvl 3s....there rated at 900rms a piece.

Yeah....with 1500 watts....single 15 would probably be the better choice or a couple 12s.....but.....with more power...mhmm, lol.

I definitely want to be able to hit relatively low as well... deep boomy bass is nice..

I plan to upgrade probably mid summer of next year, I'll be able to toss a lot more money out. The 4 10's on 4k idea sounds very nice.. If I have room for it, that may just be my upgrade. I WAS going to do one 18" PSI Platform 2 this time around, but doing the DC saves me around $100-$150. Trying to spend as little as possible on this build. Gonna be my first system I'm putting into my car. With these plans I'll be the loudest of my buddies, AND spend less from not going to the local audio shop and spending twice as much for mainstream equipment slapping them into a prefab box.

And I'm going a single 15 because I want to be somewhat different, 2 12's is just too common for my taste.

This isn't the box section, but with that 15, would building it about 1.5 cubes larger than recommended box volume do anything negatively to the output or just make it a bit deeper?

Pair of Lvl 2 12's should be plenty.....

Yeah but at that point, I might as well stick with the original plan. PSI P2 18 is $310, and that's what 2 level 2 12's go for. And it would eat up a bit more space. I don't have the room for the 2 15's.. they want 3 cubes each, I only have the room to do around 5.5 and that's **** near filling my trunk if I measured correctly lol.
