DBX vs. RL-p **PICS**

i design boxes .......
i traded my $500 gift certificate for these 2 db extreme soundstreams. they seem to be a little bit beefier than the RL-p's they are ran to a .5 ohm final load. my amp seems to be doing ok, w/ impedance rise i expect it to be around 1ohm. i'll graph it later to make sure. the basket is about 1/8-1/4" bigger on the dbx's. well here's the pics.....

god i hate tilted subs.
its the only way they will fit...the angle on the port hits the frame if i don't.

the dbx's are louder! i've only listened to them for about, maybe 5 minutes...i wanna graph my impedance before i go cranking it up real loud. i'd hate to blow my amp on account of doing something dumb //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

probably later tonite i'll have had a chance to listen to them and i'll let you guys know.

and here is a quick spec comparison

db extreme--------------------RL-p

max 2500w----------------------1200w(?)

rms 1000w-----------------------500w

fs 38.2--------------------------27.487

vas 2.305ft----------------------5.253ft

qms 4.594-----------------------3.728

qes .465-------------------------.508

qts .422--------------------------.447

xmax 14.35mm-----------------24.6

spl 99.9--------------------------89.67 @1watt

rec box

ported

3.3ft^3--------------------------2.5-3.5 ft^3

27.5in^2 port @ 45Hz----------35in^2 port @ 28Hz

sealed

N/A-------------------------------1.5-2.5ft^3

reason they are louder is your gettin more power from the amp.......a good bit more. put em on the same power the RL-p's got and see what happens.
they still get louder;) the first day i didn't even turn it up half way(i wanted to see how the amp would do @ .5ohm) and they were still louder.

the question i got is how come the dbx's w/ 14mm xmax seem to move a hel of alot more than the RL-p's w/ 24mm. and how can the xmax's be that differenet? these are both TC9 motor subs.

P2P versus one way?

those soundstream subs definatly have more xmax than 14mm

maybe measured a diff way? that is the one thing that never made sence about my RL-p's...i have had 4 diff TC9 subs.HCCA 15mm, HYBRID ~17, DBX 14mm, & RL-p 24......

you guys obviouesly dont understand xmax........

im sure the dbx's move more, but not linearly.

xmax isnt an indicator of how loud a sub will get.
