Ok if I have speaker A and speaker B. Both speakers have a db sensitivity of 90db. Speaker A is 80 watts rms. Speaker B is 125 watts rms. I put 80 watts to both speakers. Which one will get louder and why. Im basically trying to figure out how db sensitivity and wattage correlate.

They'll be the same. Speaker B can take more power so it can get louder, however at the same volume, with the same power, they're going to be the same.

I think this is the senario you're looking for

say I have speaker C and D

Speaker C has a rating of 80 watts, and a sensitivity of 87 db, and speaker D has a rating of 80 watts but a sensitivity rating of 92 db. If you fee them both 80 watts, theoretically speaker D will be louder.

Let me throw one in there too. I've been trying to figure this out today as well. Say you have a sub that is 87 db sensitivity and is getting 500w rms and components at 91 db sensitivity and receiving 100w rms.

If I did my math right, they should be **** near the same loudness at the given rms of each, correct?
