Is a speaker that is 91db better than a speaker having a rating of 87db? Same power rating for both.

Way more to it than that. You can't look at a single spec, you need to look at the whole package and in conjunction with the box alignment.

You are talking about the speakers sensitivity / efficiency rating. That just means that the speaker with 91db sensitivity will be much louder than the speaker with 87db sensitivity, at 1 watt, 1 meter away.

The Misspelled generally is key there. In essence it doesn't mean shit. Don't buy a sub for that sole reason. Maybe if you listed which subs you were comparing we could help you out a little bit.

I am comparing

Rockford Fosgate

FRC4206U sensitivity 87 dB; frequency response 40-22,000 Hz; recommended power range 2-50 watts RMS; peak power handling 100 watts.

and

Infinity Reference 6002si

frequency response 58-21,000 Hz; recommended power range 2-50 watts RMS; peak power handling 150 watts; sensitivity 92 dB

Whoops my bad, didn't notice we were talking speakers. Anywya out of those choices, I'd go infinitys in a heartbeat. I am a big fan of their coaxials for the money. They also handle power very well. RF's aren't bad, but I'm yet to hear a set of those I prefer over the infinitys, then again this is all subjective, so if you can listen to both, and see which you prefer.

Right there is the answer. You can look at specs all day long, but it comes down to what sounds good to your ears. Those shouldn't be hard to find and listen too, I'd image they could be found at any Best Buy or Circut City.

installed infinity's to the front & rf to the back panel. Much happier with infinity. Will get another pair pretty soon to match both up & hook someone up with a cheap price on barely used rf 6.5''
