DB Drive wire.....Rubbish

So I just yanked out about 20 ft. of DB Drive "1/0" because I'm going to use it to do the big three in my car that I've put off for far too long (Maximas altys are really tough to get to and I'm lazy.)

And I just got some Hyperflex that I'm going to use for my power run as well.

So I made a clean cut with my barracutter wire cutters I got from weldingsupply (by the way, best $10 I EVER spent. They seriously cut 1/0 like butter.) to see what the cross-section really looked like compared to the Hyperflex.

The Hyperflex has more than 2X the cross-sectional area. It's almost 3X thicker. Needless to say, I'm not buying that DB Drive shit ever again. What a waste.

Oh yeah, and I mannaged to find some really kick *** molex 1/0 ring terminals for $25 for 25 of them. I'm pretty stoked to use some good terminals this time around instead of those crappy ebay ones I've been using.

Wish I had a camera to show you guys how crappy this wire is though.

Not sure if they make different classes of wire. But the stuff I have is complete crap (it's also about 3 years old, their new stuff might be alright).

Have you compared it to hyperflex, shok, or knu flex or anything like that?

The hyperflex stuff definately has 2-3X the cross-sectional area the DB Drive stuff has.

BTW, nice sig.

I bought through him. I got tinned ones (more corrosion resistant). And I got them with a 5/8" hole. The pack I got was 25 instead of 20 though. I'd send him a message and see if he has any of those left. Irregaurdless, molex ring terminals usually go for $2 a piece through pretty much anyone else.

They seemed really sturdy when crimped with one of those weldingsupply lenco swedge on crimpers. Definately a lot more beefy and higher quality than any of the junk marketed twords car audio.

should have bought shok wire
I got the hyperflex a lot cheaper than the shok all copper stuff.

I actually got it cheaper than the shok CCA stuff.....

If I'm going to pay over $2 a foot, I'm going to get OFC or Tinned OFC.

Shok is good stuff, but Hyperflex is still great stuff (especially for the price I paid).

That reminds me. I will need to buy another 50ft roll of hyperflex this christmas for my next install. 4kw and two runs of power and ground ftw.

i know what you mean.

i payed alot more for my kicker wire(especially the grey) and the shok is much more easier to work with for me.

Yeah, the kicker stuff is easy enough for me. You should have seen the shit I just yanked out of my car. It may as well be copper rod.

But yeah, if I didn't get the hyperflex so cheap, I probably would have gone with shok. I was actually just about to order a roll when I found the hyperflex for rediculously cheap.

Where do you get the shok from??
the owner himself.

he's gonna have 2 distrubutors now(hes out of singapore)

strand counts the same on CCA vs kicker, comp is 1k more.

flexibility is out the roof on the shok, i honestly wouldnt go back to kicker even tho i still have 2 ground runs in the car now.

you are lucky to find it cheap, i wish i would have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
