Dayton Titantic 15" MkIII worklog *pics*

you can see where i had to use the dremel cause the router died //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
i made my previous (3) cutouts for my GTO804's using a dremel...the entire cutouts...took about 3days....real exciting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif it sucked then the dremel started shooting flames which was exciting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what primer did you use jw? Cuz i need to prime my FG box soon

22lbs

Box looks great.

Why the bracing though?
22 lbs LOL, not even close. whoever said 68 was the closest, but still at least 10 off. why the bracing? we need not panel resonances in this AND, i want ZERO flexing.

and for the reference, my old box is 63 lbs, but that feels light compared to this one. new box weighs in at 81 lbs on a doctor's office scale (my mom got it for free).

1/2 done painting. i like the underexposed one cause it shows teh smoothness of the top

if you were wondering, yes the cone is offset. this is because i was reading LDC and there was a section on driver placement and apparently richard small says to mount all drivers unequidistant from any baffle edge. i was like, hmm doesn't seem like it'd matter on a subwoofer that has only like 2 inches on either side, but i'll see. i asked over at diyaudio.com and they said i might as well even if there isn't much difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

oh, and don't worry bout the port, i should have painted it AFTER priming cause now i have to go back over it now to get rid of the primer dust //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hooty hoo! off to lowes 4 more screws 4 teh dd box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

come on, i'll only get better with criticism, so gimme some //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

thats a pretty shitty *** box if ya ask me... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

anyways are you gonna go with an ultra glossy look like the exterior of a car or just a semi clean looking gloss if you know what i mean?

i plan on doing a box painted very similiar to this one too but i'm not gonna go with the ultra shiny gloss.

yea i'll have a log comin up in a couple weeks too but this will be a nice guide. hehe.

unfortunately, all good things must come to an end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. she is finished and is ready to be tested tomorrow morning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif. here's my take on the project. it is a VERY versatile subwoofer as it is (according to its EBP) geared for sealed enclosures, but it fits in this alignment nicely. this box is ~ 5 cubes or so tuned to 24 hz. now onto the finish. rustoleum makes a DARN good product. unfortunately, my mother decided it would be a good idea to leave her slippers in the middle of the floor so when me and my father were trying to carry it through the kitchen towards the stairs, he didn't see them and we nearly dropped the box flat out. luckily, he caught it and slowed it down by gripping the sides, which is where the paint damage is from. not to worry, i have fixed MUCH worse paint defects than these, so i'm not worried. this is a beast, and i can't wait for it.

thanks for the critique lol. anyway, i'm leaving it flat (no lacquer) as it does look pretty badass without sheen. painting takes TIME, TIME and MORE TIME. you need to spend a few days getting it done right. luckily for me, i just happened to have a huge *** fan that makes it dry super quick. i love painting more than veneering as it is much more difficult but more rewarding when done right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
