DAYTON RSS315HF-4 vs Image Dynamics ID12 v.3 D2

the ID looks to have a lower FS and higher Xmax.

i've personally owned an iD12 and it sounded great ported. Never missed a beat either. The output wasn't bad, too

The 12HF is an excellent sealed box, ultra-low inductance, SQ sub with some good bottom end. As noted by JB, Xmax isn't the most out there... 400W in ~1.5 cu ft sealed will put you at excursion limits. If you were looking to go ported, the 12HO would be a better choice (or the ID sub).

Im going for sealed box. So which sub is better for sealed box ? ID or Dayton ?

The Dayton sub is one of the most accurate, musical subs I've ever heard... and I listen to a 12HF every day.

But, there is no denying that the ID has the total displacement advantage, and in a sealed box, more displacement = more output. Of course that doesn't really matter if you aren't running enough power to get the ID to Xmax.

If you plan to run ~400W @ 4-ohms, then you really can't go wrong with either one -- in that case, box size, frq response, and output will be close to the same. Go with whichever one you can get for less money (shipping included).
