Never Enough Money
As of late, I've been listening to more rap and enjoying the impressive bass output of my single 10" sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif However, I have noticed (quite alarmingly, might I add) a hideous screeching noise coming from the sub on certain tracks when turned up "too much". Oddly enough, this actually occurs with songs that have LESS bass (from what I can tell) than others. I get wicked vibrations from "Put On" by Jeezy, but when I play "Top Back" or "Lollipop" at lesser volumes and less bass, I get the screech! I turn it down instantly of course, and all is well... but I crave more.
Now believe me, I'm not going for any SPL competitions with this setup, and I can still hear myself talk clearly and these volume levels that are "too much" for my Dayton. The sub is in a .7 ft^3 ported box getting ~600wRMS from my PDX, but the Dayton is rated for 600RMS/1000MAX... there's no way in hell my PDX1.600 is belting out 1k+ signals either.
It's really irking me and making me contemplate moving up to a 15 sooner than anticipated. It sounds like if you took a galvanized nail to rough concrete, and it's LOUD... definitely mechanical.
What on EARTH could this sound be?! Solutions?!
