Dashboard and Headlights Dimming

My alternator recently blew AGAIN. I heard from someone that it's prolly my amp and sub. So I got it rewired and everything but still the lights dim, and sometimes the battery like flickers on and off. I dont wanna get rid of my sub and amp but if its causing electrical problems then I have to and I dont wanna buy another alternator lol. Any idea's?

-New sub

-Older amp

-New wiring

-New alternator

-Advanced auto said battery is good

lol yea get a bigger alt and battery. if you are running a stock alt im thinkin your around 105amps. what size is your amp ill give you a new alternator size. and mayb a cap to save the idle moments when the alt should be recharging..

As long as your replacing the alternator get a high output alternator. This is what supplies all the electricty for your car and sound system.

You need to upgrade the wiring under your hood with a technique called the Big3. Read the sticky at the top of the electrical issues forum. Basically you put in a new heavy guage wire from your battery negative to the chassis ground, another one from the engine block to the chassis ground and anther one from the alternator positive to the battery postitive.

You should already have a fused heavy gauge wire (4 gauge or 0 gauge) from your battery to your amplifier and amplifier to chassis ground.

If you do these things your lights should stop dimming and you should stop killing alternators.

yea again there are two sides to that. alot of people think a cap is useless. doing some research they produce max power in a split second. batteries cant. not saying they are useless or helpful but if you dont replace your alt or batt then a cap would help. or a cap batt combo

Its quite clear your new to the cap/anti-cap scene.

The response to this post that you should expect will be something like:

So if he doesn't add an alt or batt, and is already having charging issues, adding a capacitor for the alternator to ALSO charge is going to help? Wrong, it will only place more strain on the alternator.

it will place no more strain, and a cap doesnt do anything to charge dumbass. it stores.
STFU.

A cap will put more strain on the alt. The cap does store power, but no where near enough. Teh cap needs to charge before it can store, there for creating an un-needed load on the alt.
