dash speakers wont work

so i just got my new 1994 Chevy S10 and the dash speakers werent workin...i already planned on replacing them so i did...and i wired them correctly but there is still no sound..i just have the stock cassette player in there now and i adjusted the balance and fade..but still nothing.. any ideas y there not working?

are they wired to the HU?

I remember there being something funky with door speakers in that truck that affected the dash ones.....

well the HU is the stock cassette player..i havent messed with it yet so im not sure

You might as well go aftermarket on the HU too. But if someone had something in there before chances are the wires are cut somewhere or something along those lines.
