Dash Makeover Worklog

I finished the first sanding stage, bondo'd the valleys and sanded again. Right now I'm waiting for the 3rd Bondo to dry. I'm just filling the pinholes in this stage.

using a glaze makes filling pinholes a lot easier.
Care to elaborate? I've never heard of using glaze. I'm intrigued!

Filling pinholes w/ body filler is a b*tch... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

^nah, i don't think you can get evercoat at HD.

i didn't check the link, but he's probably talking about their metal glaze its GREAT stuff...

in a pinch you can use the bondo glaze they sell at walmart. it'll be in the automotive paint/body repair section. Its pretty cheap and comes in a black and red squeeze tube that says "Glazing and Spot Putty"

Glazes are superior to regular fillers when it comes to filling small areas, and they're excellent for filling pinholes. Keep in mind that its unwise to build up any more than 1/8" with a glaze.

Can I get this at Home Depot?

No. A paint supply store will have it though.

There is a one part spot filler that you can get at any auto parts store made by Bondo Brands It will work ok if used correctly. read the tube and you can do it.

But it will save you time filling pinholes.

OR, you can just use a good filler primer and fill them at the same time you prime the piece. No need for filling those never ending pin holes.

Find an auto paint supply store in your area, and have them order you some SEM brand Filler Primers. It is the top aerosol can primer to use if you don't have a paint gun and compressor.

Well, due to the odd shape of what I'll be using the glaze for, I'm thinking a high build aerosol primer will be the best bet for me.

Are there any of these at HD or Autozone, or would SEM be the way to go?
