Danger of running at 1 ohm

Is there any possible side effects from running an amplifier at 1 ohm? Also....my subs are Alpine Type R 15"s...the 2 ohm models.....Are they 1 ohm stable?

The subs are stable at any ohm load, it's the amps that you have to be concerned about.

Usually the amp specs will say if it can handle a 1 ohm load. (in the part where it lists the output wattage) If it doesnt say, then chances are it isnt stable at 1 ohm.

I've been running my hifonics 1000W amp at 1 ohm for about a year now and its still going strong.

if they are the 2 ohm....they are DUAL 2 ohm......so no.......1 ohm wont work.
