D'Amore AD-1 (still in test phase) but still interesting

So this is "technically" going to be badged as an SMD/D'Amore piece of equipment... but to me, i dont even like putting SMD on it, cuz he's just there for publicity.

With that being said, still an interesting piece, that i will be watching closely through development. I don't forsee this being cheap enough for the average audio enthusiast, but for those of us who deal with multiple amps (shops/installers), this might end up being a nice tool to have to subsidise standard clamping... but still not sure on that one yet. I guess all i can say is, we'll see... but thought some of you guys might be interested.

Only thing i'm questioning on this, is that i see no THD reading... so that, IMO, is the one thing that would keep it from completely replacing a true clamp test... I emailed D'Amore about it tho, we'll see what he says about it.

The headunit is a BV6550 and "rated" 80x4 Watts MAX. Boss doesn't give the RMS for the headunit.

The amp is a Boss AR4000D. "Rated" 1600x1 @ 4OHMS

It makes a lot of sense.

SM has a large fan base and his own website which he can advertise for free. It helps to show the product to those initial people and word will spread.

The creators and Steve seem to be close friends.

Why not make some bank with a friend of 5+ years that shares the same hobby as you?

It worked for the SMD DD-1.

They are selling so fast Steve & D'M can't keep them in stock.

the DD-1 is more of a consumer product tho, and i see the AD-1 being more of an installers tool. so with the DD-1 one will benefit from having SMD logo on it, where i dont see the majority of meade fan boys being able to afford the AD-1. So, it being the great tool that it is, i dont see the SMD badgeing helping it out that much. i can even see a few people deciding not to buy it, just because of the badgeing (i saw alot of people on here just talk a huge amount of smack about the DD-1 just due to the badgeing).
