Police don't need a search warrant for vehicle stops. If they think you've done anything illegal, or have anything illegal, etc., they can tear apart whatever they want.

Police don't need a search warrant for vehicle stops. If they think you've done anything illegal, or have anything illegal, etc., they can tear apart whatever they want.

It's a well known fact that stamped/sealed/labeled domestic mail or packages are not to be opened by anybody unless permission is given by the addressee or sender or with probable cause (weed stickers, smells like weed, says "I CONTAIN COKE")

Opening someones packages is illegal, whether you are a cop or a citizen

Because searching a vehicle for no apparent reason that we know of is not a warrant to search a sealed package.

Now, if he searched the car and found drugs, THEN he could search said mail item.

A random search isn't probably cause

Such as if a cop is searching your vehicle and the glove compartment is locked. No probable cause = you don't have to open it for him

This event most likely didnt even happen anyway, so there's no point in arguing about it.

Like I already said, policemen don't need a warrant. If they want to search your vehicle, for whatever reason, they can, and that includes any package or compartment that they think is suspicious. If this did happen, he could file a formal complaint or sue, unless the policeman's point of view is valid.

The policeman can say he thought he saw a gun under the seat, or smelled weed, thought you had stolen items, etc., he can search through anything inside your vehicle.

Totally not true dude. Yeah they don't need a WARRANT to search your VEHICLE but they do to search certain items inside of it such as mail or locked items. It's just how it is.. trust me.. I been to court for this exact reason actually two times. Neither time the cop showed up because they knew they had no case and it was a waste of their time, and it was automatically dropped (small amnt of mj in motor vehicle) always have it locked in my glove compartment

He didnt have no search warrent...they say they can get one if I resist...thats another 3 hour wait so I just let them search...once they gave me an open container ticket for a beer bottle cap they found under the seat...so anything they can get you for

I don't know if you were "resisting" or not but denying a search is 100% LEGAL if you are not doing anything wrong
