Damaged tweeters- compromised performance?

Well, I hooked my damaged boston neo tweeter up to power, and it really doesnt seem to be affected by the hole (1/4") that was punched in it. Both tweets seem to sound the same.

Does physical damage affect the performance of metal dome tweeters? Or is it nessecary to replace the damaged one before install?

Reason being, I don't want to have it fuk up on me later down the road or sound horrible after i get it in. The only thing I can fathom the damage might do is compromise the efficiency of the tweet.

Need some input. I'd guess that just installing them and replacing the one if it goes to hell is pertinent enough.

If you're worried about fucking up on you later then I would just replace it. The fact that it sounds the same as the other tweet tells me you haven't really pushed REAL power to them yet. Eventually you'll hear the difference.

It doesn't make sense that a 1/4" hole punched in a tweeter dome would sound the same as an unscathed tweeter. I'm a dumbass and both of my Pro60 tweeters both have small nicks in them but nothing like a 1/4" hole.

I would definitely buy a new pair, but where in the hell can you buy Boston's tweeters separate from the component set?

Agreed with squeak. Go to an authorized Boston Dealer and they should either have some or be able to order you some. I know my local dealer had a few spare "parts" as they called it.

I tested them extensively today and there is almost no difference in the sound.

I will contact boston though and see if they have something like this available.

Too bad, jusyt blew 2k of my savings on school, wont be able to afford that tweet for some time now.
