DAC on my eclipse

So i have an eclipse CD8455 showing up tomorrow, and i have a question. I know it has a 24bit DAC in it, but what functions utilizes this? CD, the SD card, the aux port?

I noticed when looking at new pioneers that they said they bypassed the ipods DAC and used its 24bit for better sound. Just wondering what physical format will sound best from the unit. I use my ipod/phone (so the aux input) like 95% of the time. But ill burn some new cds if i will get better quality from them.

I know this is a high end unit, just wanna know the best way to utilize it

Your cd and the memory stick will go directly to the DAC in the digital domain. This unit can also take the digital output from a cd changer, such as the CH3083. As for the auxillary in, it can also be switched from analog to digital input. As for getting the music out of your iPhone to the CD8455 in the digital domain, I'm not sure how you would go about doing that. The connection for the inputs is one that is made with an "RCA" type cable. I just used my Eclipse iPod adapter for it, & used it in sirius mode. You can use it in cd changer mode, but you won't see artist or song information, only time lapsed.

Well i know theres the ipod cord that hits into the CD changer slot, but from what ive read the 8455 has a AUX ouput on the back(RCA like you said). Theres already a cord on it w/ an 3.5mm jack at the end. I was wondering if when using the 3.5mm jack im using my ipods/androids DAC or the units

Never the less should still sound WAY better then my cheapy CDA-105, has anyone used the ipod cords off ebay that connect to the CD changer port? WOndering if they charge and if you can control from unit or if u control threw device

Unit actaully looks like a bit of a pain to set up, im not used to having anything but a 3band and center Fq lol

With those connections you will be using your phone's DAC. The ones I've seen on eBay will not control your phone.
Thats what i was thinking, only thing that ***** is the SD cards used with the HU can only be a max of 128mbs. Still hoping it sounds better with this unit vs my CDA105

It will, you will have way more tuning abilities with the CD8455. It is a very nice unit.
Im excited for it, but when reading over the manual there was some ridicules setup stuff. I think it may have just been for running active but you had to download **** online and save to the SD card and all kinds of stuff lol

Is that just for active or does general setup take 30min?

The unit is going to sound nice from the get go. You have a few ways you can go with it. Simple & two pro modes. One of the pro modes is to go fully active. I used it in the non active pro mode. This gave me seven bands for the PEQ, both front & rear. Independent x-over settings. Time alignment is better in pro mode.
