DA vs JL vs RF vs CDT for surround speakers.... !?!?

i am seriously considering the CDTs... however, i can't decide if i should use 5.25" or 6.5"??? i listen to mostly rock/metal, and i love punchy mid-bass.
these are going into a 2004 BMW X5.... have any of you guys done an install in one of those?

i keep getting mixed responses on whether to use the 5.25" and not have to do any modding, or to get the 6.5" and deal with making them fit properly.

SOOOOOOOO i guess what i want to know is, how big of a difference will there be between 5.25" and 6.5" woofers in a component set? i like the CDT inverted magnets for the 6.5", and the CDT ES52i Gold for the 5.25". now i just need to pick one!

i will have a subwoofer in the car as well.
I would use the HD-5 mids and not the ES-5 mids. The reason is ES Gold is a more warm and smooth sounding speaker than HD. It will still sound great with rock and metal, as I use ES mids as my midbass and midrange drivers, but HD will have a bit more of an aggressive sound to the midbass and midrange.

I can't decide for you if you want to modify the door to fit a larger mid, but you will get better midbass performance from the larger driver. You need to isolate the rear wave from the speaker from the front wave in order to get the best midbass response, which is not related to the choice of speaker.
