guys, i am having a hard time choosing which surround speakers to put in my SUV....

here's what i have so far:

-Pioneer Avic 150

-Image Dynamics 12" IDmax

then i have a RockfordF T400-4 to power my surrounds.... it's still in the box, unopened, so if you guys have any suggestions other than that, please let me know.

my budget for surround speakers is roughly $350 per pair.

i do NOT like aluminum tweeters... i like the softness of silk tweeters instead

i am looking mainly for SQ. i like my music loud and thumping, but i am also on a budget. so here's what i was able to come up with:

ES-52 - CDT Audio EuroSport 5.25" 2-Way Component

HD-52 - CDT Audio 5.25" 2-Way High Definition Component

C5-525 - JL Audio 5-1/4" Evolution C5 Series Component

S500s - Diamond Audio HEX 5.25" Components W/Silk Tweeter

if your looking for sound quality the c5s are the best ones listed although those cdts will get a little louder.
the es cdt's are the best sound quality out of the ones you have chosen .i have es models myself and they sound fantastic and get loud .one of the perks of being a cdt dealer

I have a pair of the c5 components and I love them. You can get a pair for a little over 300 from sonic electronixs and they will ship for free. They have the silk tweets too

The JL's do sound pretty nice, but they are overpriced IMO... I'd go with CDT, I've heard several different 5.25 & 6.5 mids with their silk tweets & x-overs & those sounded awesome... Once I have the extra cash I will be upgrading my front stage & rear fill with all CDT

ya, i've had JLs in the past and liked them... i'm a little wary on the CDTs though because i read somewhere that they got bought out a few years ago and their quality has gone downhill ever since.

JLs are my #1 choice at the moment.... they were my first pick. at this point, just seeing if there's anything else out there to sway my opinion.

Out of all the brands I sell online I hear back about CDT Audio more than any other brand, hands down. People love to talk about them once their new speakers are installed. The story about CDT getting bought out is nonsense and easily put to rest with a phone call, which people telling such stories won't make.

ok, thanks for the input... what do you guys think about their slim-line component sets with the inverted magnet woofers? i gotta fit these in a tight spot in my doors, and they look to be the right fit for the job.

mylows10 uses the ES-6iM woofers. You have to have clearance on the front side as well. If you can fit 2.75" deep mids with a small spacer that's your best bet.

i am seriously considering the CDTs... however, i can't decide if i should use 5.25" or 6.5"??? i listen to mostly rock/metal, and i love punchy mid-bass.

these are going into a 2004 BMW X5.... have any of you guys done an install in one of those?

i keep getting mixed responses on whether to use the 5.25" and not have to do any modding, or to get the 6.5" and deal with making them fit properly.

SOOOOOOOO i guess what i want to know is, how big of a difference will there be between 5.25" and 6.5" woofers in a component set? i like the CDT inverted magnets for the 6.5", and the CDT ES52i Gold for the 5.25". now i just need to pick one!

i will have a subwoofer in the car as well.
