Cvrs louder than SSDs?????

Hey i use to have 2 (dual 2)12" kicker cvrs running off of a zx750.1 now i have 2 (dual 2)12" FI ssds running of a zx1500.1 and my cvrs are louder then my ssds, the ssds are in a 4 cube ported box tuned to 32hz. My electrical is a 200a EA alt, Yellowtop under the hood. Ive got 10guage speaker wire, 1/0 power/ground wire.

When i try to set the gains using the gain setting tutorial i dont get any voltage reading from my dmm so i try and set it by ear and the subs just stop playing when the subs arent moving that much. Im not sure whats going on. Im almost positive i hooked the subs up to read a 2ohm load i remember goin gfrom the positive from amp to positive to sub to positive to the other sub (same thing with negative) then doing the positive to negative on one sub then i did it to the other. I have no idea whats going on My amp is a little warm could that be the reason? If so how do i fix it? I really want this system working. If you need pics of anything ill be glad to take em!

Pull ur subs out and check ur wiring before we go any further.\

I know people who swapped from CVRs to SSDs. Direct drop in in a 1.25 sealed box. SSDs were definately louder.

Ive heard a ton of SSD setups, but sealed and ported. They definately seem to like sealed better.

I wonder why scott does not reccomend putting them in sealed enclosures then?

Use your DMM to measure the DC resistance of your subs. Should be around 1.4-1.8 ohms, give or take.

Ok i just got done measuring all the coils and there fine, checked wiring its fine... so what else could it be?

you probably have your meter set to dc voltage.

needs to be set to ac to set the gain.

If you set for DC voltage, you'd get extremely sporadic readings.

Did you measure the overall resistance that your amp will see? The way you said it made it sound like you measured each coil individually

ok what i did was i stuck the negative lead in the negative and the positve in the positive and it read 1.8-2 thats what i did, and as for the gain i set it the Vac 200

Ive heard a couple SSD 18s in ported boxes, wasnt impressed at all, never heard a sealed SSD 18 though. Not sure if Ive ever heard a 15" SSD.

Ive heard both and the SSDS are way way way louder... Sounds like a wiring issue

i checked how i wired the subs and there setup for a 2ohm load



there exactly like that^^^

maybe ill try switching the wirings at the amp idk i just want it to be louder then my cvrs

what if they were dual 1s and they were setup like that what would they be reading? even though im almost postive there dual 2

my ssd's got hella louder in a ported box. had them in a built to spec seald box before they got ported... i like the ported way beter
