how do you guys cut the circle cut out for the driver? I dont have a router or a jig saw. i'm kind of limited to tools that i have. so far all i bought is a close quarter hacksaw to cut the circle with, hopeing it will work. any of you guys have any other way of going about this; with a drill maybe?

you could probobally get a drill, and just make hundreds of tiny holes around the cutout, and then cut in between the hole with a utility knife or something. But having a jigsaw makes this job just sooo much easier. Go out and buy one. or you can rent them for like $12 for 4 hours.

you can buy a bit for a drill that cuts in any direction..

you can get a jigsaw like the above posters mentioned..

or you canget the mack-daddy hole-master.. the roto-zip with the rotory attachment

and you can attack the holes like nuking japan.

hope this post helps your situation.

i was hopen' to use a drill to make a hole big enough to get the saw in there or should i say the tip which is 4 inches of just the saw blade in the hack saw and then slowly go around until i finished and then smooth it out with some sand paper. i'll try that and if i dosent work i'll go out and buy the cheapest jigsaw i can buy, cuz i only need to make one box.

yes i agree, but since i'm probably only gonna use the jigsaw once or twice i'd rather put the extra money twards some good speaker wire or a new power wire if possible, but if not oh well.

the man's on a budget, hit it up with human ingenuity, and kudos for patience on doing that with a hacksaw. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i hope you at least have a wood blade and not a metal blade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

post up some pics when you get it done how ya like it, and make sure you put some good caulking in there too to seal it up nice so you dont have any air noise.

ok i think I have the most ghetto way to cut a hole for a woofer. I used a drill bit to drill holes around the perimter then used a rotozip with a drywall but to cut between the holes. But for my last box I broke down and bought a $20 jigsaw from lowes.

you can get a decent jigsaw for 24 bucks, i mean just sacrifice a few beer and go get one. It'll work out best in the end anyway, becuz drunkeness and the jigsaw you just bought tend to rival each other. On the contrary, your woofer hole might come out more uniform if ur drunk cuz you'll be spinning circles... good luck w/e way you go.

Also, send me a beer for this great bit of info.
