Well, let's see...Explain to me why i'm an idiot. I ran the car down I85 at about 90 for a couple miles and had no pulling problems or anything. I figure if i can get by for the $12 i spent on the spring compressor i saved myslef about $200, and if its a problem, ill upgrade...

I also have a PM from a guy who has done it to numerous cars without having suspension problems, and a custom car builder who has cut springs said that i was fine if i only cut one coil out i woudn't cause any problems.by cutting the springs you are going to put UNEXPECTED stresses, WHICH YOU WONT NOTICE RIGHT AWAY, on other parts of the suspension. I dont know specifics on your suspension but there are definately some ball joints, axles, tie-rod ends, cv joints, and it might have a multi-link suspension...
all in all your cheap a$$ is going to pay more money repairing these items then it would have cost you to just save the money for lowering springs/drop coils/camber kit...
that sir is why you are an idiot....
but the reason why your truely an idiot is....
GET THIS:
BECAUSE YOU HAVE ABOUT 20 REPLIES STATING THIS IS A BAD IDEA...
THAT ENDS MY ARGUEMENT.... ENJOY
If thats the care, then why can people put lowering springs on their car without replacing shocks, because if im not mistaken me cutting the prring is exactly like buying a set of lower springs.Well, let's see...
For starters your springs are now fairly worthless - you don't have a progressive rate spring in that car and you've just eliminated some resistance that was supposed to be there.
Secondly I'm imagining you used the stock shocks, and are now going to deal with a shock rate that wasn't designed to be hacked down lower to the ground.
Thirdly - now you need an alignment - which is by itself a shame since you didn't do things right in the first place...
Do it right or don't do it at all.
