Cutting mounting holes

So I'm building my box now (pics to come later). I have a jigsaw to cut out the mouting holes, but I have no idea how to cut out the mounting holes. Can someone tell me an easy method to get it the right diameter?

Find out the diameter you need then divide in half. Use a ruler, drill a hole at the end and put a nail through it, then put another hole ever how long you need. Hammer the nail in and put a pen in the other hole and turn. Make sense?
