We have the same issue on a daily basis. With out fail, the ones who ask/demand/expect a discount are always, and I mean always not worth it. The countless emails we get from people with zero experience wanting to be sponsored and be on the team. Only to flip out when they learn that we sponsor no-one and we are not going to give competitor discount to a total n00b.
I have no problem helping people figure out their wiring or amplifier settings etc. but some people expect you to be able to magically fix their entire system though email or phone. Only so much that can be done with out being there, and there is a point where the user has got to do some of it themselves.
We also get a number of emails that complain about us not having sales saying such and such company always has sales. I simply tell them, we don't do sales, and we don't have the margin these overseas built brands have, period.
It all comes down to the growing number of people in car audio that expect everything for nearly nothing, and expect you to do all the work for them. Then when they clip with be-jesus out of their amp with the sub woofer in a poorly built / leaky box, suddenly the product is crap.
There is at least one customer a week that makes me want to walk away from this.
