Desire enclosure quote for my '08 Ram 1500 ST quad-cab for the 'stealth' install I am planning for underneath the rear passenger seat.

Planning to go with a Skar VVX-12 in a sealed enclosure, for an SQ/SQL system.

Not sure about using MDF or Birch, worried that 3/4" may be too thick for the small space I have available and may force me to consider the dreaded pre-fab thermoformed composite box.

Measurements (carpet not removed) for under rear passenger seat sub install:

Bottom Front of the cubbyhole: 10”L x 6.5”H

Bottom of the Center and Rear of it: 14”L x 6.5”H

Bottom Width of the cubbyhole: 6.75”W

[Front of the cubbyhole slopes upward very slightly…nearly straight, while the other 3 sides slope upward/outward at differing angles]

Giving Top of the cubbyhole these measurements: 17.5”L x 12”W x 6.5”H

Overall width (front of seat to back of cab wall): 20.5”

Opening / height from bottom of seat to top of cubbyhole: 3”

(So, it would kind of be ‘unlimited’ length x 20.5”W x 3”H available above the cubbyhole)

Note the last sentence of the first post: the 3" height is the 'free' height above the restrictions/walls of the cubbyhole.

If one adds the cubbyhole height to this 3" space, the total available height (or depth) becomes 9.5"

Maybe nobody will wish to build an enclosure for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible.

There's enough volume for a 12" sub, just alot of angles to deal with for the enclosure.

Yea, shallow mounts may be possible. I won't make any recommendations yet, but I can get you started if you want to pm me again. Before any purchase is made, I can get a model going of the exterior to verify the space we can utilize and see what drivers may work. I believe pioneer has 12 shallows that can accommodate the space and box style requirements but I can research and mess with some numbers to get comparisons, just let me know.

And if we find that a shallow 12 may not be as applicable as a smaller driver that may be able to produce equal output, then a recommendation and investigation of that can follow. Pm me for details.

I have a second gen dodge and im running a downfiring enclosure with a jl10w6. The enclosure replaces the center cusion of the seat up front under the console.

^^^

Yeah, I had actually checked into this configuration to start with, but felt the stealth install under the rear seat would work better for my planned SQ install.

May have to reconsider, tho....

How transparent is your sub in the setup you describe? Can you pinpoint location?

The folding part of the console unbolts from the bottom center cushion and bolts to the sub box.

The sub box bolts to the frame of the seat in the center. very easy and a great fit! I actually have it in my 2001 ram 2500, but the only thing i had to do was modify the mounting points on the box.

Ive ran jl10w3 and 10w6 in this box and both sound great!

Yeah, so I guess I am going to have to go with the FoxBox prefab enclosure. Just picked up two Skar VVX-12 D2's, so my plans have changed yet again, lol. Have to be a dual enclosure now, instead of a single...

hey Flex! Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. I was offline for a few days. I noticed you seem that you now have a plan set for the dual 12. I hope it works out for you! Please let us know how everything goes for the install and performance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
