Custom Speaker Grill?

I had to mount a 3/4 inch MDF spacer for my two front doors on my 01 Tundra. Speakers were too deep and i had to cut around the cheap plastic door panel.

I now need to cover my speakers so they dont get banged or wacked and are out of view. Im looking for a material that i could possibly pound into shape and fab a grill over the speakers that would mount with flanged edges behing the door panel.

Any ideas? Or should i bust out the fiberglass?

aside from welding, grinding and drilling (thinking of something like polished aluminum or ss) fiberglass will most likely need to be used...at lest somewhere.
