Custom fit in a Chevy?

hey everbody, i've got an 04 silverado ext. cab, and i've recently installed a new system in it. The only thing is, I don't like the sound coming from my rear door speakers. (4x6) Granted, I only have some Sony Xplod's in there right now, but i still don't like the idea of the 4x6 speakers. I am thinking about cutting a bigger hole back there to accomodate 6 1/2" rounds. I am wondering if there is anybody out there who has done that in a chevy, and if so, how it turned out. Did you have to customize the door panel as well? If I don't end up doing that, does anybody have suggestions for a good alternative?

Alpine CDA105 HU

Alpine Type S 6 1/2 front

Sony xpld 4x6 rear (temporary)

2 10" Kicker CVT in sealed box under back seat

Kicker ZX750.1 Mono Amp

Yep. Those speakers sound terrible being right behind your head. I drove a family Chevy for a while (04 single cab), and I always just faded it all to the front. A single set of 6.5's will be more than enough to satisfy you, I bet.
