Custom fiberglass box volume? (pictures)

I almost finished my fiberglass box. I'll put a 12" Infinity sub in there and it needs a sealed enclosure of 1'³... but the box is way too big!!! I thought I could fill the space with some foam (you know the kind that takes a lot of expansion once it is in contact with air), but I'll need something like 10 cans of them.

My questions are: 1. Is it that bad if the volume is bigger? 2. If it is, do you have any suggestions of any material I could use?

I've been working on it for something like 3 weeks, I'm eager to finish it!

um. yea you must have made that box like, WAAAy to **** large.
My first priority was to make it fit the car nicely since I don't really have any trunk. I thought I could manage something with the volume.

It's also my first try with the making of sub enclosure AND fiberglass. I think the foam will absorb some of the sub's bass... but that s**t doesn't expande like it should... 3 times bigger my ***.

lol, just stuff a few pillows in there, maybe 3 or 4, who knows lol
Well, I'm not so sure: they will keep moisture and they're not really compact (they contain air also), so they will not reduce the volume as effectivly as foam would... maybe I'm wrong though.

I thought about it, but I'd have to make 2 pieces of MDF (one big enough will not pass through the sub hole) and join them IN the enclosure. After that I'd have to seal them together and on the enclosure. I don't think it's worth the trouble...

Mmm, it's sad to say, but I think my best option is the foam //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

4x4 pieces work pretty good, screw them to the inside.

Maybe use the foam and then resin it so it is completely solid on the outside. Try this first on some foam out of the box incase it has adverse affect.

box looks good though
