3 year old rca 61in crt hdtv off craigslist for $400....3 month after purchasing it appears the fluid level leaked for some reason in the blue gun. i go inside to inspect and **** up the convergence.

im poor. and i want to try and fix it myself but from what i've read up there's a reason its several hundreds of dollars to fix. its a pain int he *** and take s a long time. i wonder with the right equipment and instructions is reasonable to acomplish if you're willing to put in the time and effort?

is it worth attempting to fix on my own or should i pay some ******* $350 to fix a $400 tv that i'd rather fix and sell?

Yep, better spending 500 on an LCD flat panel. They are all over the place for around 500 smacks online or open box at a big box store.

I paid 800 something for my LCD screen, which is a cheaper Westinghouse a couple years ago and still works like a champ.........even though I had to unplug it a couple times, lol!

Now my Sony xbr5 I have never had problems with, but only a little over a year old now. Now those can get costly. Usually anything over 40 inches (Name brand) you are looking at close to a grand and more. My sony was a 47" and it was costly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yeah I think they have a 65" as well...........I remember seeing it setup at Sams Club awhile ago and actually looked really nice.

Was over 2000 bills for it though, even still not a bad price considering the size.

I want to go bigger than my 47" TV, but wife would kill me......not to mention we are broke, lol!

I have a 37" Olevia and it has been working great for two years

I have heard CS is non existant from them so if you do have an issue it is tough, but if you buy locally at least you can take it back pretty easy

I bought my Westinghouse locally.......... my Sony direct, but CS from Sony direct is the shiznit! They actually send people out to fix your TV.......well, they send someone out to check to see if they can fix it, if not, they take it right there and then and package it themselves, or so I heard. Have yet to use it, but I can with the 5 year extended warranty I got, lol!

if it has fluid leaking out of a rear projection tv chances are its gotten something blue spilled in it . cause a rear projection screen tv has 3 bulbs in side that project up on to a plastic mirror and then to a magnifier screen . if i rember right their red blue and green so chances are if you blue color has went out its probably the blue bulb

i noticed the fluid level on the blue was low for some reason. guess it leaked? then i put it back together and wham convergence is off.
