Current events discussion

It's amazing that Nike ever even came into existence manufacturing in the US.
And then moved manufacturing offshore to increase profit.

So, what is your business plan to bring it back without loss of profit, with US workers getting paid enough to live, without retail prices skyrocketing?

It's obviously very simple. What is it?

"Then it's an agency or some bullshit" As if an agency is "some bullshit" that is not part of the government, and that is why they pay import tariffs.

You TRY to argue in a circle until you convince others you are right.
Maybe it works on the sub-80 IQ people you hang around with, but it fails here.
Oh so now instead of importing the item directly and collecting the tariff the US government is going to pay an agency to import the items, collect the tariff and then pay the tariff to the government. Looks like a job for DOGE.

So you think that when the DOD or the FBI or the NSA or the USSS make an acquisition from overseas, they just write a check from the big bank account that is under the name "US Government"?

At the end of the year, does someone go and look at the giant "US Government" checkbook ledger in Quickbooks, and count how much money each agency spent, and what they spent it on?

I genuinely hope you are simply acting this ill-educated.
If you're not acting, holy f**k.

I must have made a good point for you to ignore it and dodge around it like you just did. Doesn't make sense does it to spend MORE by having some agency import stuff for you then ultimately pay you what will now be less because they chose to use middle men.

WHO is talking about "middle men", other than you?

Do you not understand that the term "agency" in the context of this discussion means an arm of the US Government?
As in "The DOD is a US Government AGENCY". "The DOD imports goods from China. When they do, they pay import taxes on those goods".

25.902Procedures.

For regulations governing importations and duties, see the Customs Regulations issued by the U.S. Customs Service, Department of the Treasury (19 CFR Chapter 1). Except as provided elsewhere in the Customs Regulations (see 19 CFR 10.100), all shipments of imported supplies purchased under Government contracts are subject to the usual Customs entry and examination requirements. Unless the agency obtains an exemption (see 25.903), those shipments are also subject to duty.

Lemme guess: "Leftist interpretation of the word of the law, to make Trump look bad"?

You are. The Agency being a middle man. Do you know how money is made by the government from tariffs?
When did I say the agency was a middle man?

It would be a lot less typing for you, if you would just admit you have no idea what this discussion is about when it comes to tariffs, government agencies, government agencies ordering products from other countries.
You are totally lost and you demonstrate it over and over again.

Rob, if the US adds a person (agency) between them and China... they are by definition a middle man. This (Agency) as you called it is pointless. It is an extra step for the US government when importing for themselves. It would be like you ordering that bike you keep blabbing about but having some other guy go to the docks, pay the tariff, then allow you to get the bike. Pointless. You wouldn't do it so why would OUR government do it. But you are claiming they do. So, since you and I both know it is a waste of time and money I think it is one more thing for DOGE to fix.
