Fixed income? No... I made a shit ton of cash money tonight. Nothing "fixed" about it. I have investments... none of which are the S&P 500. I'm not broke so that is a plus. My bases are covered for sure.

Rob? Does this statement not make sense to you? It's ok if it doesn't. Let me know and I will explain it like when you have to explain things to a not so bright woman.
It is a statement that you believe China pays US import taxes on goods the US government imports from China.
I'll explain it like you are a not-so-bright man: The IMPORTER pays the US Import tariff on goods that are IMPORTED. If the IMPORTER is a US government agency, then that agency pays the tariff.

Holy ****... so you think trying to WOW me with prices in the billions of dollars is anything special? They manufacture in ******* BULK Rob.
So, that changes the money spent on the goods? Manufacturing in bulk means nothing unless someone is buying IN BULK.
Do you think the US buys BILLIONS of dollars worth of electronics just to hide them away in a warehouse?

$37B in cheap computers... yes, cheap computers. The same amount of computer from Japan would cost what? $150B and be superior quality.
So every iPhone is cheap and fails in the short-term? Interesting.
Ever hear of a little company named Hewlett Packard? They've been making laptops in China since 2010, and sell like 13 million a year. If they were crap, sales would disappear pretty damn quickly, as lots of gov't agencies use HP.
What Japanese laptop is in heavy use in the US?
Really? Pharmaceuticals... from China???? Yeah, the Fentanyl is great quality coming from China.
No, not really. The UN COMTRADE database is lying just to help support my argument.

Not one time EVER did I say I only buy American or I only use American products. Idiot. The point is the WORLD including the US is too dependent on low quality from China just because it is cheaper. What's even more fucked up is they steal the worlds tech to mass produce sub-par replicas and sell the shit to the world. Gobble Gobble Gobble!!
You tried virtue signaling that you will pay extra for "better quality". So you have a $4000 US-made Element LCD TV, then? $2,000 Librem 5 phone? $7,000 Mac Pro computer?
Only the best, right?
And then you conflate Chinese knock-offs with the tens of millions of legitimate products that come from there, basically stating you know nothing of the products that come out of China
I have known your game from day one.
And yet you regularly act surprised, confused, upset by it.

What pain for the exporter? They already have the money if the goods are shipped.

Yes. Bring jobs back here. Explain how we can make Nike sneakers here for ten bucks a pair without lowering the min wage to $2.00/hour.
Or explain how we can make them here, and triple the retail price.
So you think tariffs only affect the suply chain after the product is shipped???

Nikes were affordable prior to shipping manufacturing overseas. Remembera few decades ago when computers were made in the US? Now it's impossible for our economy to function with outsourcing the vast majority of our manufacturing.

When no it comes to them being paid as goods arrive in port, yes.
And yes, we know that you know a guy who knows a guy who struck a deal with his supplier in China for the supplier to reimburse the importer for half of the import tariff.
That does not mean that the exporter pays the tariff. If the exporter decides to back out of the deal while the goods are on their way here, the importer is on the hook for the full amount.
The US government cannot call the exporter and tell them that they have to pay the bill. That's not how important tariffs work

And? When stuff was made in the US, people wanted the lowest price possible. That's why you ended up with companies like e-machines producing computers at a much lower price than other companies were doing.
It's market competition.
Eventually, the only way to beat the competition was to find a cheaper way to manufacture the goods. Hence, outsourcing.
The genie is out of the bottle, and it's not going back. But, you seem to think that it is. So again, tell me how we can bring manufacturing back here without knocking the minimum wage down to two dollars an hour, or driving prices far beyond what they are already.

Why, why the **** do you argue? Yes, if the CHINESE GOVERNMENT sells something to the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT and ships it to the United States, CHINA WILL PAY THE TARIFF DIRECTLY TO THE UNITED STATES. The US isn't going to pay itself the ******* tariff. Nor is a "US government agency"... which is just another way to say the US government. If CHINA has paid a "US government agency" IT HAS PAID THE US ******* GOVERNMENT.

You liberals will argue even when in agreement but you will use different words or try to rephrase it to make it look like you are right when your point is the same as the other side. Just stupid.
