Who said I only go by what people tell me? How are you getting your info? Is your info more reliable than mine? I live here and work with the people that are dealing with these issues first-hand. That's pretty arrogant of you to think you are receiving more accurate information from Google and a news reporter that obviously leans heavily left. So yea... any intellectual person would tell you that my sources are much more reliable.

LOL... I honestly can't believe you feel Google is more reliable than first-hand experience. So, are you telling doctors that you're a better surgeon because you googled it? Are you going to tell a Engineer that you can anything better because you Googled it? Or maybe you think a democrat politician is spot-on because they are a democrat?

Just stop, man!
Old_Slapper..... your sources ARE much more reliable than RobGMN's. ;)

How can Google be a reliable source of information when the information that is put on it can be controlled by people with the power to control speech? If they can control what they want you to see and nothing else, that is how the country ends up with half the voters actually believing the left.

Did Rob accuse the republicans of wasting money? I guess all of these free-be's we are giving all these immigrants don't cost much. Newsom still can't show where that $24,000,000,000 dollars went. Maybe the Rob just thinks that's too small of an amount to worry about.

Google is the most reliable source because Rob Googled it and found this fact on Wikipedia.

Calling a computer a "Pentium" computer does not make sense. Pentium does not make computers. Pentium is a processor that is used in them, which I'm sure you know. However, a Pentium processor was considered as being high end back then, well, at least the Pentium Dual Core 4 version was.
So you and Thxone both knwo better than even Dell Corp, who advertised a "Pentium PC".
They obviously need education on the lingo of computers.
The first Pentium (a "586") was considered high end when it came out.
The tower ran out of water so fast because there was only one water source, correct? If the tower was fed by two reservoirs, that tower would have been able to keep up with the demand twice as well as just having one, correct?
No, not correct. A tower tank is filled by a pump. If the pump cannot fill as fast as it is draining, it runs out.
With all your knowledge, you were supposed to share the number of tower/tanks, their capacity, and the volume their pumps operate at (a common one being 1,000 GPM).
I think your misunderstanding what I'm trying to say. If you had water gravity fed into a cup through one straw, and you were ******* out the water with another straw, you would end up draining the cup faster than it can be fed. If you had another straw, from a different source, that is also gravity feeding water into the cup, it would take you much longer to drain that cup.
The tower tanks are not filled by gravity. They are filled by pumping water up into the tank.
You said there is a 36" feed line to the city from the reservoir. That's 17,000GPM of flow. How many tower/tanks are there, and what is the flow rate of the pumps filling them?

I Don't remember, and that has nothing to do with the point I was making. However, in this part of the city, we are talking about the one where the fire started.

I Don't remember, and that has nothing to do with the point I was making
If you don't know the data, how can you argue what happened?
What does any of this have to do with the point I was making? You're trying to go off in a direction that doesn't address what really matters.

We are talking about where the fire started. If the proper sources were available, the fire would not have been as bad as it was. That's the point.
It matters because you have already stated a delivery of 17,000GPM to the city tanks.
If that exceeds the capability of the pumps filling the tanks, then it's not a deficit of water from the reservoir that caused the shortage at the hydrants.

You said you trust someone that you consider an insider, even if what they say seems dubious.
That's how people get scammed. Look at how many people are already regretting trusting what Trump said, and voting for him.
Are you and Thxone brothers? Google isn't a source of information. It's merely a roadmap that brings you to the information.
You claim your sources are reliable, but keep them a secret. That tells me the sources are not reliable at all, and likely fabricated.
Your ''first hand experience" carries no weight when you can't provide details, and keep falling back on a circular argument of simply claiming you are correct because you "work for the city".
If you are so damn knoweldgable, simply answer my very basic questions regarding the city's water system.
As a bigshot who speaks to the mayor daily, you should know the data.

Google doesn't make me a surgeon. But if I read Gray's Anatomy and it says bones have nerves in them, I'm going to take that as more accurate than Thxone's claim that bones do not have nerves in them.
Google doesn't make me an engineer, but if an engineer says a pump can push 1,000GPM into a tank 30 ft off the ground, I'm going to take that as more accurate than someone on a forum who claims otherwise and says "trust me dude" in support of their claim.

You have pretty much never provided any information that supports your claims, and always seem to fall back on your personal expertise, age and wisdom, and your job as a city-whatever, in support of your arguments.

Hell, when talking about the vaccine, you assured us that people were forced to accept the jab, because you said they were. Hell of an argument, there.

So can you drop the "trust me dude" nonsense, and just answer the very simple questions that someone with your extensive power and knowledge of the city should know without having to ask a "fire chief"?

What was/is the number of towers/tanks in the area of the fire?
What is the capacity of the tanks?
What was the capacity of the pumps feeding the tower tanks?
What was the water level of the reservoir that was still in use (was it Hollywood Res, upper and lower)?
How many hydrants were in use, and how many hoses were in use?
How many pumpers were they filling and refilling?

If you're going to argue that Newsom caused the drop in volume and pressure to the hydrants, these are all facts you should know, otherwise you are simply making shit up.

Just stop, man!
Stop what? Questioning your ultimate authority and knowledge?
No.
Unlike you, if someone says something dubious I question it. I don't care if they are an "inside man" or not. Anyone can lie, even as an "insider".
Ask the clients of Bernie Madoff.

Google is the most reliable source because Rob Googled it and found this fact on Wikipedia.
Show me one proof I have provided that is from a Google-published book.
Show me one proof I have provided that was created by Google.
Show me one website I have linked to that started with www.Google.com.

As opposed to your "fire chief" resource Mr "Sugon Deez Nutz", and your other source "trust me, dude".
If you are like Thxone and do not understand what Google is and how it works, you should probably stop referencing it. It makes you look foolish.

Just wanted to point out some liberals have been defending Biden's record on illegal immigration, referring to him as "Border Joe" and "Joe the Deporter." Clearly this is in opposition to the facts, but I think there is a logical explanation. What I believe has happened is liberals have conflated Obama's Presidency with Biden's. As we all know Kamala (the VP) was the "Border Czar" under Joe Biden. I think what's going on is people remember Obama the "Deporter in Chief's" record on deporting and think Sleepy Joe (also a VP) was the "Border Czar." So it's just a simple matter of some liberals accidentally flip-flopping their VPs and not a case of "misinterpreting" the actual stats under the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations. Clearly an understandable mistake. Ironically, these same libs have also flip-flopped who was responsible for the "Kids in Cages" policy at the border. It's hard to keep it all straight.

It's an obfuscation tactic. Ultimately, Bush should have been cleared and fire breaks should have been built. Had Newsom and company done their jobs properly then insurance companies wouldn't have been pulling out of California. Had Newsom and company done there jobs properly we wouldn't have room to complain. But Newsom and company were clearly negligent in their duties. Had they done their jobs, I would write of an empty reservoir to bad timing, bad luck, etc. But when you can see clear signs of negligence and mismanagement over and over and over again, and then I see an empty reservoir, it's hard to be forgiving.

The reservoir was closed due to damage.
"The Department of Water and Power in February 2024 shut down the Santa Ynez reservoir because of damage to its cover. The reservoir supplies drinking water to the city, so it’s subject to environmental regulations to prevent contamination."
"The department said the repairs are "subject to the city charter’s competitive bidding process which requires time." The Los Angeles Times reported a $130,000 contract was issued to a Lakeside firm to repair the cover.
The Santa Ynez capacity is 117 million gallons. The Hollywood Hills reservoirs hold 30x as much. It seems the the HH Res. was used"

From what I have seen, the Hollywood Hills res would be the next source (Old_Slapper should be able to confirm this, or say which reservoir was being used).

IF the area in question had 100 tower/tanks that held 1,000,000 gallons each, they could be filled 30 times by the Hollywood Hills res.
At a maximum rate of 1,000,000 gallons per day turnover, that's 30 straight days of water.

The Santa Ynez would have been wiped out in a day based on those numbers.

We would know the number of towers/tanks if Old_Slapper would tell us, but he won't.
So assuming the high side of 100 towers and 30 days of water available from the Hollywood Hills reservoirs, how would the Santa Ynez have made a difference?

If one bomb can wipe out a city, will 5 bombs wipe out the city "better"?

What do these stats mean?

I know why the res was closed. In light of the fact that we can see mismanagement at all levels, one can only assume that the res closure, reopening, bidding process, etc was also mismanaged. Look at some of the ridiculous salaries some of these gov't officials are making to do a shyt job of fire prevention. And it's year after year after year. Cali wildfires alone are responsible for 2% of US co2 output. You think Cali would want to get that under control. However, it seems like weather it's fire prevention, immigration, crime, housing or any other problem Cali's typical answer is spend a shyt ton of money, hold nobody accountable and accomplish nothing.

And the sad thing is Cali's liberal lunacy gets exported out of Cali straight to Colorado, so now we have our wildfires and I can watch Cali style governance here. We have Walmarts pulling out due to crime/theft. There is a Target/strip mall that's on the verge of closure due to unchecked theft. Feces and hypodermics in the streets, tent cities, out of control "undocumented migrant" populations, etc, etc, etc. But on the plus side you can ***** your kid at any age in Colorado and we allow abortion up to the day before the birth.

From wildfires to ****** identity and medical issues in one fell swoop.

It's like saying "Kids and adults are starving across the US, but at least we can afford $1 Billion in helmets, just for the F-35 pilots" or "People are dying for lack of insulin, but at least our president is focused on fighting to disallow Native Americans from being citizens".

Except, someone's right to abortion, or the right to know their own ****** identity has NOTHING to do with fires, and affects no one in any way, other than the people who are obsessed with it and stay up at night grinding their teeth, clutching their pearls, and wringing their hands about it.
Religion really ***** with people's heads, man.
