current draw difference

How much of a difference is the current draw between a class d and a class a amp. I've been considering upgrading to an amp that would give me 1800watts and it's a class d. My current amp is a class a and put out 1200watts. How much of a difference would the current draw be.

You have a class A/B amp, not class A.

i was just gonna say a 1200 watt real class a would probabbly kill your electrical i have 2 monolithic 25 watt mono amps you just turn them on at idle they draw over 20 amps all the time.

ok thanks for the link to that site, but whoa i'm not quite educated enough in car audio yet to get a solid answer out of that site. Yeah my amp is class a/b. Can anybody else give me an answer.

roughly 20% better at least but its amp dependant. some class d are better than others
