I know that Louisiana has some crazy *** laws in this area -- but that is nothing new, they have crazy laws on everything,

If I remember correctly, in LA if someone smashes into you and you do not have insurance then you can't bring suit against them, regardless of the fact the accident was clearly their fault.

Every state requires car insurance or that you meet financial responsibility requirements through a bond or some other way which shows you are able to pay if you cause damages to another person or property in an automobile accident. Each state changes and/or renews their laws annually, so some states that had no insurance requirements in the past now do. New Hampshire probably has the least amount of requirements.
New Hampshire state law does not require minimum auto insurance coverage. However, if you are at-fault in an accident without having insurance coverage you will be required to get car insurance. In this state it is advised that if you own a vehicle you get at least some type of bodily injury coverage, in addition to $25,000 worth of property damage.

Depending on the value of the vehicle it may not be the worst thing in the world.

I have no idea how Indiana's system works regarding uninsured motorists but this is something you need to look at if your state is like mine. Let me know if you need more info on this.

I guess, I mean the penalty of not being able to sue is just way out proportion to the fact that you don't have insurance. Plus, it allows the negligent driver to catch an unjustified break.

I have full coverage for $98mon on my truck. I have to have it or the bank wouldn't give me a loan.

That car I sold my friend wasn't insured. He is an uninsured motorist.

I have full coverage on my truck until I get a car. Then, because it's a truck, I can call it a utility vehicle and save $$.

i have no sympathy for bad drivers. If you dont have insurance and get in an accident. I think its obvious that 1) you shouldnt be driving and 2) if they do let you drive, your dumb *** needs insurance.
