I actually had $60 in my pocket I was going to give the guy but saw the filter and thought it was something he was going to install in my basement but he realized it was outside under the above mentioned warning.
I downgraded internet too to 1mb/down 512k/up and I could not really tell the difference until I started up my torrent downloads for the night. I am guessing these filters are set to just block certain channels and speeds above my 1mb/512k

The filters are for the tv channels, yes.

Internet speed is usually done from a central hub and controlled remotely.

Back when I first moved out, I couldnt even count how many times we were supposed to have our cable shut off and we would grab the guy on his way to our poll and invite him in for some rips or even a little spare cash and it was all good.

I used to remove those filters for friends. Once removed, just screw in a barrel connector in its place.

Yes there are 5 condos per building and a junction box at the end of the building with a green cover. I am not even sure I can get into it but the guy took literally 2 minutes to do it so I am guessing it would not be that hard to figure out.
I believe most single family homes they put the filters directly up on the line or at least that is what it seems like after searching online.

Yeah it depends on the provider who originally set up the lines as well as the kind of dwelling they are running to.

IIRC, the filters were installed in the boxes that are connect to each house. Or that's how it was in Ohio.

Right but I have the basic cable now. The $10/mo cable. There is a plan that's about $55 that has the other channels, but no box. I don't want a box as I can get HD without it.

Over the air hd looks better to me than cable or sat hd anyways so you should be good to go and get all the channels in the $55 plan.

So just find and remove the filter...then I should be good to go? I ain't trying to get playboy and all that jazz. I would like the learning channel, discovery, etc.
