I have Vista, my mom has XP.
How do I change the networking card to DHCP?

Then how do I find my mother's workgroup?
fack...vista is a pain in the *** to share drives simply (because of the added security), its probably easier for you to share the folder on your computer.

To setup dhcp on your computer, go to start/settings/network connection

then right click on Local Area Conneciton then click on Properties. Then Highlight Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] then hit Properties. As long as the window that pops up shows check marks on Obtain IP and Obtain DNS automatically, you're setup for DHCP.

As far as your workgroup, look in start/settings/control panel/system/ then click on the tab Computer Name. Your workgroup is listed below. This should be something similar to the one in Vista.

That was my final thought too, which is why I made mention of him ratting out JD for surfing on work time.
If you read his last posts, he was your biggest fan. Plus his bannage coincides with me and you's registration, plus me and you said he was from Canton Ohio.

Tappin, tow poker sessions ago I could do no wrong. Then Saturday night I had a horrible night at poker. Shit like: I flopped a set of 6's, dude turn's a set of Jacks. I hit a set of Jacks on the flop, bish runner runners to hit a flush.

To top it off none of the decent players are winning. All of the people who are winning are horrible. For example: I have KQ. I spike a K on the flop, bet and it folds to dumb *****. I hit a Q on the turn for top two. The river comes a 9 -- she was playing J,10 and called the flop with zero. Then she doesn't even raise the river. WTF? YOu chase a rujner and you don't try to make the most of it when you hit?

I had K9 in the blind. The flop comes 9,9,10. I bet, guy raises. Everyone else exits and I check and call. Dude turns over a 9,10. Flops a full house and raises on the flop with players behind him.

The PM explains why I want to go through this hassle to learn networking.
I am bound and determined to impress someone, somewhere with my ability to rip blu rays to a server and then use the PS3 to watch them off the server.

Does the word stream mean wireless or is what I am talking about called streaming?
well, not reallly. Streaming is a method of sending video/audio data across the internet at long distances. You'd be running an intranet, so more of just local playing of data without all the encryption/buffering bullshit.

Which makes me think about something, you'll be ripping a blueray to a particular file format like Divx or something....im sure PS3 will play that, right? Ive never even touched a PS3 before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif .... I mean I know they're scaled down pc's to start with, its just the codec processing im not sure of.

I just rent blu-ray's from Netflix. I guess I won't impress anyone.

First case was about a black guy stealing equipment out of a rednecks blazer down south -- I voted innocent.

Second case was people downloading motion pictures -- Swindlers were Guilty as sin. A vote for lynching is a vote for justice.

Well it doesn't have to be my PS3. I am not adverse to buying a seperate box like that in that previous post. It seems what I am trying to do is becoming more and more popular as people are wanting to store movies for later viewing.
I just downloaded my first mp3s yesterday.
congrats! I'll be contacting the RIAA immediately //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Yea, like I mentioned in PM.... I used to play movies out in the living room from my laptop straight into my Plasma with the actual files residing on my server in the office. Worked just fine, but I ripped DVD's to DIVX so the overall file output size was like 1.4 gigs. Ive never ripped a Blueray, so I have no idea what the final size would be or how that would actually effect playback wirelessly. Probably no impact at all, but im now kinda curious.
