How can I know in advance if it has this feature it is not advertised online whether it does or does not. It would be an important attribute to consider.

This is why it sometimes pays to window shop at stores. You can get a feel for the right laptop for you buy going to a store IRL and playing with the display models.

Hopefully it would say it, but most all Compaq's do I believe.

Yes, I use it every night hooked up to an external. What do you think is fair?

Im thinking $300 as is or $450 if I replace the screen.

450 with screen replacement aint bad either. I would want to add another GB or RAM to it though.
