They are because the big 3 wants to get rid of the hourly workers. You honestly think GM, Ford and Chrysler are ethical corporations?

I am replacing the ones who took it. My position is considered a skill trade. The people before were making about $40 an hour, I am making $18. About 19,000 took the buyout and GM is replacing about 1/4 of that with new employees at half the price.

I'm not talking about your place but in the big 3 salary has not made any concessions. Their raises are at a larger disproportion then hourly. There are 16,000 employees just at the Tech Center, and only 1600 are union. Then, there are thousands who work downtown at the global headquarters, so it is pretty close in the amount of salary vs. union. My point is, the big 3 wants to attack the hourly and blame the union, but when they seriously try to make concessions to the salary then I'll listen.

A tech center is hardly a census of what you will find in most GM facilities.
